What name do you prefer to be called?

Demi

What are your pronouns?

she/her

Where did you grow up?

Plovdiv, Bulgaria

What city are you currently based in?

Minneapolis

How do you typically introduce yourself to new people?

“Hi, I’m Demi! Ten years ago, I took a wild-card opportunity (my background was in investment finance) at a healthcare consultancy in town and discovered a deep passion for healthcare. Soon after, I fell out of love with U.S. healthcare and made it my mission to be a disruptor! So, I shipped myself overseas to learn how other countries were financing their systems and structuring incentives to provide more accessible, equitable, and higher-quality care. When I returned, I dedicated myself to bringing change from within as a leader in Strategy, Innovation, and Business Development roles within payers in the U.S., I'm now focused on revolutionizing the industry from the outside in.”

What’s one thing you wish more people knew about you?

I have a deep love for teaching and have been doing it for as long as I can remember. When I grasp complex concepts, I feel driven to share them with others, helping them avoid struggles and giving them a head start. Recently, Ramsey Shaffer called me a "philosophizer," a title that totally resonates with me and I’m happy to embody as I continue on my journey to becoming an “innovation alchemist”.
